Marketing and PR writing for the web
Do you remember what it was like 10 years ago, when we depended on traditional media to communicate with the masses? Within the last decade we have experienced a silent revolution in the field of corporate communications. Nowadays large companies, small businesses and non profits alike enjoy the ability to communicate with their stakeholders in their own language and in their own space. While it is still important to include newspapers, television and radio in our communication strategies, the truth is that they are not only just a part of the strategy, but that they often feed off what is been called “new media.”
That’s where Public Relations amd Marketing professionals who have a grasp on corporate web writing techniques come in very handy. Professionals such as myself focus on producing messages that are aligned with the corporate or organizational marketing strategies and which can be “understood” by humans and search engines alike (SEO). Equally important, is that, while the brand needs to be consistent, each medium has a different “personality”. For example, when talking about an event in YELP or Facebook the tone is different from the one used when writing about the same event in the newsletter, the Annual Report or in news articles. All these changes make these one of the most challenging an funnest times for corporate writers!
Traditional Media
Yes, new media is extremely important, but there is something very special still about traditional media that makes me think that it is not going way. The only change that I foresee in the near future is that new media will not be called “new” anymore. There will be no separation between old and traditional. You can see it right now: websites advertised on newspapers, radio shows online, podcasts, vlogs, tv commercials on youtube… it’s all different, but all ONE.
Still, a specific language and method needs to be used to address traditional media. That’s where Public Relations professionals come in handy, as we are trained to navigate through the world of producers, editors and the such to get your message out there. Nothing tells your stakeholders (or your grandmother for that matter) that you’ve made it big or that your company is doing well than appearing on any or all of the BIG THREE. Once you do so, you let EVERYONE know by using new media strategies… and it all comes together!
Here’s a list of the corporate pieces I have worked with in the past:

- Annual reports
- Press Releases
- White Papers
- Blogs
- Web content according to SEO best practices
- Magazine articles

- Bios
